Hay 7,000 plantas que son nativos en Oaxaca, y hasta el momento se han recolectado 4,000 en el jardín. El estado de Oaxaca se divide en siete regiones, y cada región es representada en el jardín. El jardín también cuenta con una biblioteca de renombre.
